Job Description

Residential Support Worker - Children's Secure Service. Location: Glasgow. Position: Full-Time (temporary with strong potential to go permanent). Shift Pattern: Rotational 3-week roster (Includes earlies, lates, and weekends). Can you be the anchor a young person needs to rebuild their future? On behalf of our client, a dedicated Children's Secure Service in Glasgow, we are seeking a resilient and compassionate Residential Support Worker. The young people referred to this service have often faced immense challenges, traumatic situations, and significant psychological distress. They may be struggling with their mental health, managing overwhelming feelings, and navigating the hurdles of day-to-day life. This service offers them a place of safety, structure, and nurture. Working hand-in-hand with families and a network of professionals, the team helps these young people make sense of their past, develop vital coping skills, and build a hopeful path forward.

Job Responsibility

  • Create a safe, stable, and supportive environment where young people feel valued and heard
  • Help young people navigate complex feelings, mental health challenges, and distress using trauma-informed approaches
  • Work closely with families and multidisciplinary professionals to implement care plans that foster long-term growth and resilience
  • Follow a consistent daily routine that promotes life skills, coping mechanisms, and personal goals

Requirements

  • SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7
  • HNC in Social Care
  • Bring a compassionate, non-judgemental, and resilient approach to residential childcare
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and child development
  • Utilise excellent communication skills to safely de-escalate challenging situations with empathy
  • Maintain flexibility to work a rotational 3-week shift pattern, including early shifts, late shifts, and weekend rotation
