We are currently recruiting Residential Support Workers to join a specialist residential college setting supporting young people aged 16-21 with learning disabilities, mental health needs and some challenging behaviours. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students outside of the classroom environment, helping them develop essential life skills and independence in preparation for adulthood.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting young people aged 16-21 within the residential homes
Assisting with daily living tasks including cooking, budgeting, laundry and personal organisation
Supporting morning routines and preparing for college
Welcoming and supporting students when they return from college
Supervising homework sessions and structured evening activities
Promoting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour management
Supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours
Encouraging independence, choice and social inclusion
Recording daily notes, safeguarding concerns and incident reports
Working in line with safeguarding policies, Ofsted standards and internal procedures
Contributing to risk assessments and behaviour support strategies
Working collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
Requirements:
Experience supporting young people or adults with learning disabilities
Experience managing challenging behaviour
MAPA training preferred (especially for temporary staff)
Understanding of safeguarding practices
Flexible and reliable approach to shift work
Strong teamwork and communication skills
