A seasonal position with Brown’s Pre-College Programs offers an opportunity for staff members to gain practical experience in community development, workshop programming, social justice education, administrative tasks, and customer service. The position requires an interest in working with college-bound high school students and engaging with them both intellectually and in a residential context. These are live-in positions with a meal plan.
Job Responsibility:
Promote Pre-College student development, engagement, holistic growth and well-being
Facilitate a vibrant student life experience
Build and maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive student community
Learn about the Pre-College programs to support student success
Assist with staffing of all-campus programmatic events
Demonstrate acceptable standards of conduct
Enforce Pre-College policies and procedures
Intervene with unsafe, inappropriate and concerning behavior
Provide developmental advising and make referrals
Support Pre-College Student Life operations
Respond to inquiries
Be visible, available and approachable
Serve on a rotating on-call schedule
Be available to assist in emergencies
Complete administrative paperwork
Assist with collection of documents from students
Provide flexible support for academic, enrollment, and operational needs
Facilitate Sunday check-ins and orientation sessions
Support residence hall check-in and check-out operations
Create and post informational signage
Complete tasks and trainings during non-resident weeks
Maintain privacy, confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy
May be required to move room assignment
Effectively communicate and collaborate with other Pre-College Student Life Staff
Assist in building a sense of team
Attend and participate in all applicable training sessions
Participate in ongoing training
Attend required staff meetings and one-on-ones
Participate in debrief meetings and evaluations
Log hours worked
Requirements:
Employment dates are June 11 - July 27, 2026
Must be available for training period June 11th-18th, 2026 with no outside commitments
Must work approximately 35 hours per week, including required evening and weekend hours
Must have a phone with a data plan and a computer
Demonstrate cultural competence and inclusiveness

Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively, and to manage multiple tasks effectively
Abide by all staff policies
Maintain confidentiality regarding all student information
Successful completion of background check and education requirements
For current undergraduate students, additional review of any institutional conduct violations
Move about inside the office and throughout all residence halls
Occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions
Not permitted to have guests visit and/or stay in residential spaces
