Job Description

Bureau Veritas, Industries and Facilities division, City of Fort Worth Team, is hiring a motivated ICC-certified Residential Plan Reviewer for our Fort Worth, Texas office. In this full-time role, you will conduct residential plan reviews, make technical code decisions and interpretations, drive customer service and client relationships, and monitor project turnaround times.

Job Responsibility

  • Conduct comprehensive non-structural plan reviews of residential buildings for compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Provide site plan reviews for compliance with applicable local codes, amendments, and civil components
  • Conduct structural reviews of wood-framed residential buildings for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and engineering principles
  • Liaise with City of Fort Worth departments throughout the permit review process
  • Communicate code compliance requirements and requested revisions to clients and design professionals
  • Explain and answer client questions regarding generated plan review letters
  • Assess and resolve plan review discrepancies from clients, designers, and contractors
  • Prepare written plan review correspondence and manage plan documentation for permit submissions
  • Meet with clients and municipal staff in person and/or virtually as needed
  • Research local codes, amendments, and zoning requirements for proposed projects

Requirements

  • Current ICC Residential Plans Examiner certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Prior building department residential plan review experience required
  • Working knowledge of ICC Codes and applicable local codes/amendments
  • Working knowledge of electronic plan review computer software (Blue Beam)
  • Working knowledge of office computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work well with clients, coworkers, and independently

  • Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.
