Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Residential Loan Underwriter to join our team in Walpole, Massachusetts. This is a long-term contract position that requires working entirely onsite, with no remote or hybrid options available. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance and accuracy throughout the underwriting process for residential mortgage and loan applications, while delivering outstanding service to internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibility:

  • Evaluate residential mortgage and loan applications to ensure compliance with federal, state, and bank-specific regulations
  • Analyze borrower financial documents, including income, credit, and employment history, to assess risk and eligibility
  • Prepare and review loan agreements, disclosures, and other required documentation with precision and attention to detail
  • Collaborate with attorneys, customers, and internal staff to address inquiries and resolve any issues during the underwriting process
  • Maintain accurate records in loan origination systems such as Mortgagebot and DocMagic
  • Stay informed on regulatory updates and ensure adherence to changes impacting the mortgage industry
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively to support timely loan approvals and processing
  • Provide clear, detail-oriented communication and guidance to all stakeholders involved in the lending process
  • Ensure proper handling and documentation of jumbo loans, FHA underwriting, and installment loans
  • Perform quality checks to uphold high standards of accuracy and compliance in all underwriting activities

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential loan underwriting
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state mortgage regulations and compliance standards
  • Proficiency in mortgage banking systems, including Mortgagebot and DocMagic
  • Demonstrated expertise in underwriting residential mortgages, jumbo loans, FHA loans, and installment loans
  • Exceptional analytical skills to evaluate borrower financials and assess risk effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with attorneys, customers, and internal staff
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation
