As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with varying needs within our homes. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality care, promoting their well-being, and helping them develop essential life skills. This rewarding role requires compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
Job Responsibility:
Provide day-to-day care and support to children living in the residential home in line with their individual care plans
Ensure the safety and welfare of children by maintaining a secure and supportive environment
Build positive relationships with children, encouraging trust and promoting their emotional well-being
Support children with education, social activities, and personal development to help them achieve their goals
Work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies, and families to ensure a holistic approach to each child's care
Maintain accurate and timely records, including daily reports, incident logs, and care plans
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision to continually develop your skills and knowledge
Promote a culture of respect, dignity, and inclusion within the home
Requirements:
Previous experience in residential childcare, social care, or a related health and social care setting is desirable
Level 3 Diploma in Residential childcare (Children and Young People) or equivalent qualification preferred or the absolute willingness to complete this qualification
Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection legislation
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and colleagues alike
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is essential
