As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will play a vital role in providing consistent, child‑centred care to children living in our homes. This role is about presence, patience, and professionalism — creating a safe base where children feel understood, supported, and encouraged to develop. You won’t be expected to “know everything” on day one. We provide a structured induction, regular supervision, and a team culture where asking for support is encouraged.
Job Responsibility:
Providing day‑to‑day care and emotional support to children in line with their individual needs
Building positive, trusting relationships that promote safety, stability, and self‑esteem
Supporting children with routines, education, activities, and life skills
Working alongside colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure holistic care
Maintaining clear and accurate records in line with safeguarding and regulatory requirements
Contributing to a calm, organised, and respectful home environment
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people in a residential, care, or similar setting is desirable (but not essential)
A good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
Strong communication skills and a calm, empathetic approach
The ability to work well as part of a team and take responsibility when needed
Resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting children
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep‑ins
Nice to have:
Experience working with children or young people in a residential, care, or similar setting
