Job Description:

This position is a 12-month postgraduate pharmacy education and training program designed to provide practical experience in the provision of pharmaceutical care. The pharmacy resident will develop advanced knowledge and skills in patient care as a member of an interprofessional healthcare team. Emphasis will be placed on communication, lifelong learning, leadership, evidence-based medication management and safety. In order to meet these goals, the resident will rotate through a variety of patient care areas. Upon completing the experience, trainees will develop a strong foundation to practice as a clinical pharmacist or further training in a PGY2 residency.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide Clinical Pharmacy Services (drug information, drug therapy monitoring, patient-specific consultations, healthcare staff and patient education, while completing required and elective rotations
  • Investigate/research/report adverse drug events
  • Participate in the formulary process
  • Serve as an informational and patient problem solving resource for clinical staff pharmacists
  • Completing a pharmacy practice research project and present results at a state/regional or other relevant conference
  • Active participation in local, state, and national professional organizations
  • Program specific activities and staffing as outlined in the Residency Program Specific Manual
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree obtained from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or equivalent experience
  • Eligible for Ohio licensure
  • Must demonstrate highly effective written and oral communication skills

Nice to have:

  • Hospital pharmacy internship or clinical rotation experience
  • Computer system skills in spreadsheet, database and word processing
