Job Description:

This job involves providing technical and operational support for networking products as part of an Advanced Services team. The role is highly technical and focuses on post-sales support for networking products. Key responsibilities include network design, technical workshops, experimenting with new tools and features, testing software patches, and assisting with customer network improvements.

Job Responsibility:

  • Understand the customer’s organizational structure and become familiar with the customer’s network implementation and support processes and procedures
  • Help design a network that is available and sustainable
  • Hold network information gathering workshops to understand the existing network design and technical requirements of new network designs
  • Carry out testing of new tools, features, and functionality in a laboratory environment
  • Help develop plans to implement and verify network operations
  • Test patches and fixes to operating software in the test network and live network
  • Hold technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems
  • Provide case status updates, including reasons for problems and solutions
  • Support design and planning of Juniper MX, PTX, QFX, EX series, and associated solutions
  • Support defining best practice policies for networking products
  • Peer with other Resident Engineers to share lessons learned and minimize risks during network upgrades
  • Develop secondary skills in other network products.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate project status and identify risk
  • The ability to work independently and to function in a team environment
  • Strong customer interface and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work calmly under pressure
  • Trend analysis to help deliver more efficient solutions to the customer network
  • An understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks, including IP/Routing experience (OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, Routing Policy)
  • Routing protocol operation, migration, and scaling mechanisms
  • Routing policies at BGP peering points
  • VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (MPLS, EVPN, L3VPN, VPLS)
  • JUNOS CLI experience across MX, QFX, EX series
  • Understanding of BGP and route reflector topologies
  • Scripting skills (Slax, Python)
  • Database experience a plus
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • BS (or equivalent experience)
  • Broad networking product and protocol knowledge and expertise.
