The Residence Hall Coordinator (RHC) plays a critical role in the administration and management of a comprehensive housing program. The RHC is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a residence hall or group of residence halls, which house 250 to 700 residents. This position involves staff supervision, building management, process administration, and general departmental responsibilities while implementing a residential curriculum that fosters student growth, community building, and engagement. The RHC reports directly to an Associate Director of Residence Life.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as the primary point of contact for departmental processes, occupancy management, and high-level facility and maintenance concerns within the assigned residential community
Maintain a consistent presence in the assigned residence hall and foster an inclusive, engaged residential community in alignment with the department’s residential curriculum
Provide on-site response to student and facility-related incidents, emergencies, and other campus situations in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures
Manage the student conduct process within the residence hall, including addressing behavioral concerns and upholding university policies
Supervise student staff through regular one-on-one meetings, weekly team meetings, performance evaluations, and ongoing coaching
Participate in departmental committees and contribute to broader University and Housing and Residence Life initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Experience in student affairs or residence life programming
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to manage crisis situations effectively and efficiently
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and faculty
Must reside in the assigned residence hall
Be available for on-call responsibilities during weeknights, weekends, and holidays
Nice to have:
Master’s Degree Preferred
Experience in a live-in professional role within a university housing program
Familiarity with student conduct policies and residence life best practices
Previous experience in staff supervision or leadership roles
