We are looking for a Researcher in Reproductive Biology to join the Genetics team. In this role, you will combine strong hands‑on biological expertise with an R&D‑oriented mindset to improve maturation monitoring, gamete quality, fertilisation outcomes, and related reproductive performance indicators.
Job Responsibility
Lead R&D in salmon reproductive biology, generating new knowledge on maturation, spawning readiness, egg quality, fertilisation success, and related performance indicators
Develop, improve, and validate data collection systems, methods, protocols, and tools for reproductive monitoring and cryopreservation
Turn scientific insight into practical improvements in spawning practices, handling routines, and operational conditions to strengthen breeding outcomes
Work closely with breeding, hatchery, and innovation teams to implement new knowledge and solutions in Norway and support scale-up across global breeding programmes
Requirements
Master’s or PhD in salmon biology, fish reproductive biology, aquaculture, animal science, or a related field
Strong practical and theoretical understanding of salmonid reproductive biology, including maturation, gamete quality, fertilisation, and early development
Demonstrated interest in research, innovation, and method development, with a structured scientific approach to testing, implementation, and quality in data collection and documentation
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with fluency in English
Nice to have
Norwegian skills
Experience with digital recording systems, databases, or basic programming
