Temporary contract | 24 months | Belval. Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Distributed and Intelligent Connectivity (DISCO) research group. DISCO is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to building the next generation of intelligent, distributed, and programmable connectivity systems. The successful candidate will conduct research at the intersection of AI and networking, contributing to advanced architectures and intelligent, sustainable connectivity solutions for 6G and beyond. You will work primarily on exploring the use of unlicensed spectrum to enable intelligent, energy-efficient and reliable 6G connectivity in industrial environments.
Job Responsibility:
Conducting advanced research on next‑generation wireless networks, with a focus on high‑performance and reliable communication over unlicensed spectrum
Designing and evaluating adaptive Medium Access Control (MAC) and network‑layer protocols to enhance performance in shared spectrum environments
Developing AI‑driven methods for real‑time interference prediction and adaptive network behaviour
Exploring multi‑technology (multi‑RAT) integration of emerging wireless systems (e.g. Wi‑Fi 6E/7/8, Ultra‑Wide Band) to support ultra‑reliable, low‑latency, and massive IoT services
Implementing energy‑efficient and sustainable networking solutions for Industry 5.0 environments
Publishing results in high‑impact journals and conferences and contributing to collaborative research activities within the team
Supporting or leading the preparation and development of new project proposals
Supporting knowledge transfer and demonstration of developed solutions in real or simulated industrial scenarios
Requirements:
PhD in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a closely related field
Strong background in wireless communications and networking
Knowledge of random-access protocols (e.g. IEEE 802.11 family)
Understanding of multi‑radio systems, interference management, and energy‑efficient network design
Familiarity with machine learning applications in communications, including neural networks and federated learning
Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset
Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Excellent communication and scientific writing skills in English
Fluency in English is required
Nice to have:
Background in AI and machine learning is an advantage
Experience in network simulation and modelling tools (e.g. ns‑3, OMNeT++, MATLAB, Python) is an advantage
Practical experience in prototyping or testbed experimentation is an advantage
