Applications are invited for a full-time Research Technician to join the Hayter lab within the Centre for Biological Timing at the University of Manchester and support a Wellcome Trust funded project interrogating the daily rhythms of neuronal pathways responsible for controlling cardiac function through autonomic signalling to understand how the circadian system shapes peripheral tissue physiology.
Job Responsibility:
Provide technical and administrative support to research activities
Assist with project specific research activities including performing long term ex-vivo electrophysiology experiments
Assist in and perform stereotaxic surgery
Management of colonies of transgenic mice
Support the running of in-vivo models
Perform standard laboratory techniques including PCR, histology and immunohistochemistry
Manage laboratory equipment and consumables stock
Support students
Ensure health and safety and ethics compliance within the laboratory
Requirements:
Extensive previous relevant lab experience in neuronal circuitry mapping
Experience in assessment of ex-vivo daily rhythms
