The Nelson Lab in the Biology Department and Neuroscience Program at Brandeis University seeks a research technician to assist the PI and other lab personnel with ongoing molecular biology and neurobiology research into the transcriptional control of mammalian cortical function in health and disease. The technician will learn to carry out procedures, troubleshoot and analyze results and contribute to experimental planning and interpretation. Brandeis Biology and Neuroscience are home to a cutting edge but close knit community involving faculty, undergraduate and graduate student researchers and post doctoral and post baccalaureate staff researchers working closely to solve biological and biomedical problems. This is a one year position with a possibility of extension.
Job Responsibility:
Plan, carry out and troubleshoot molecular biological benchwork: 80%
Plan, carry out and troubleshoot tissue labeling experiments: 10%
Assist with maintenance of laboratory stocks and supplies: 10%
Preparation of nucleic acid samples from sorted neurons obtained from wild type and transgenic mice
Preparation of sequencing libraries
Immunohistochemistry
Production of viral vectors
Help with maintaining lab stocks and supplies
Carry out procedures, troubleshoot and analyze results
Contribute to experimental planning and interpretation
Requirements:
AS/equivalent required
Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred
Prior research experience is required
BS or similar degree in biology, neuroscience or a related life sciences discipline
Provide a letter of recommendation from a prior research supervisor
