Research Specialist

• Assists faculty and staff in designing and implementing research projects
• Independently plans, prepares, and conducts a wide variety of routine and non-routine (complex) laboratory procedures
• Oversees multiple projects at a time
• Records, tabulates, and analyzes data and assists with and provides expertise in the preparation of papers, posters, and scientific publications
• Assists in training staff and may provide functional supervision to assigned laboratory personnel
• Develop and run a high-throughput neuroanatomical mapping pipeline using RNA barcoding techniques
• Assess molecular and connectivity signatures at cellular resolution across the whole brain in both neurotypical and neurodevelopmental disorder models
• Design gene editing approaches (RNA interference, overexpression)
• Manage mouse colony, perform stereotaxic surgeries, and prepare tissue samples
• Conduct whole-brain serial two-photon tomography (STP) to map cell distributions and axon projections

• Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field
• 5 or more years of experience performing independent laboratory research experiments
• OR Master’s degree (or higher) in a related scientific field (e.g., biology, microbiology, biochemistry, psychology)
• 3 or more years of experience performing independent laboratory research experiments
• Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field (e.g., biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or psychology) required
• stem cell biology and regenerative medicine fields desirable
• Masters’ degree or above preferred
