An exciting opportunity is now available for a Research Radiochemist to join the MITRU at SAHMRI. The position will engage in the research and development (R&D) aspects of radioisotope production (via the cyclotron solid target) and manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals.
Job Responsibility:
Manufacture of radiometal isotopes and associated pharmaceuticals
Develop and validate new radiopharmaceutical production and quality control methods
Assist in preparation of documents and provide scientific input on related MITRU R&D projects
Lead the validation of new quality control test methods
Develop appropriate stability trials for new IMP radiopharmaceuticals
Assist the Senior Radiochemist, Director and QA manager in compiling data and information required for Product Quality Reviews (PQRs)
Act as scientific subject matter expert (SME) on R&D projects
Ensure good working order of equipment and that calibration and maintenance schedules are followed
Maintain accurate records of tests/experiments performed in the MITRU and provide outcomes of the results to the Senior Radiochemists, Director and/or QA manager
Ensure adherence to the Radiation Protection and Control Act, the Radiation and Control (Ionising Radiation) Regulations, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and other related legislation and guidelines
Requirements:
Relevant qualification in an approved chemistry, pharmacy or pharmaceutical science discipline (Master’s and PhD desirable)
Experience in radiopharmaceutical and sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing
Experience and knowledge in the use of standard laboratory equipment including liquid, gas and thin-layer chromatography systems
Communicate effectively and assist team members in GMP compliance, procedures and policies
Practical synthetic chemistry skills and techniques with advanced knowledge in synthetic and analytical chemistry
Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA), the Radiation Protection and Control Act (1982) and the Radiation and Control (Ionising Radiation) Regulations (2000), or has the ability quickly acquire this knowledge
Knowledge of chemical/radioactive waste management measures
Knowledge, experience or training to meet both GMP and GLP requirements
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
