Job Description

We are pleased to invite applications for an experienced Research Project Manager to support Respiratory Medicine research studies at Wythenshawe Hospital. The position is funded by the Northwest Lung Centre Charity for a 12-month period. Academic Respiratory Medicine at the University of Manchester is a large and vibrant community. Our PIs work across airways, infection and inflammation, lung cancer and cough. There are a number of cross cutting themes such as biological timing, exacerbations, pollution, biomarkers and mathematical modelling. Our mission is to deliver world leading translational respiratory research across the lifespan, engaging our community, and enabling us to train the next generation.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensuring the smooth management of the programmes of research and the production of deliverables and milestones, on time and within budget
  • Working effectively across complex research organisations
  • Ensuring timelines for projects are met and instigating change as required
  • Using specialized knowledge to advise on funding strategy
  • Taking initiative where necessary
  • Identifying and breaking down tasks required for a multidisciplinary research group project
  • Delegating and assigning tasks to others

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, IT, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplinary research projects
  • Experience within research, preferably in biological or medical sciences
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
