We are seeking a highly skilled Research Laboratory Technician II to join our research team. This role involves complex laboratory experiments, primarily in molecular biology and rodent-based studies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PCR, genotyping, animal handling, and surgical techniques, as well as strong organizational and data management skills.
Job Responsibility:
Perform molecular biology techniques, including PCR, genotyping, gel electrophoresis, and tissue slicing using cryostat or vibratome
Handle rodents (mice and rats) for procedures such as SC/IP injections, sham surgeries, husbandry, and placement of intravenous catheters and vascular access ports
Coordinate and execute studies involving self-administration and telemetry
Prepare drug solutions and calculate dosages for experiments
Organize schedules and collaborate with lab members to maximize efficiency
Maintain accurate experimental records and verify data entry
Manage lab operations, including ordering supplies and maintaining equipment
Collect and analyze data using relevant software packages
Ensure compliance with protocols and safety standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Zoology, or other related science, or high school diploma with four years of experience in research, pharmaceutical, or clinical laboratories
Ability to listen and communicate effectively
Basic computer skills
Knowledge of medical terminology to interact with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
Knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe work environment
