Research Internships at Microsoft provide a dynamic environment for research careers with a network of world-class research labs led by globally-recognized scientists and engineers, who pursue innovation in a range of scientific and technical disciplines to help solve complex challenges in diverse fields, including computing, healthcare, economics, and the environment. The Security Research Group at Microsoft Research Redmond works on a variety of areas to ensure computer systems are secure and trustworthy. Its current work investigates systems that leverage general software/systems security, confidential computing, formal verification, zero-knowledge proofs, intrusion detection, anomaly detection, and information flow control. The Research Internship will explore new ideas and approaches to building secure and trustworthy software and cloud services.

Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related STEM field
Research Interns are expected to be physically located in their manager’s Microsoft worksite location for the duration of their internship
Ability to build and extend complex software (e.g., operating systems, distributed systems, proof systems)
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute an original research agenda
