  • During the 12-week internship, Research Interns are paired with mentors and expected to collaborate with other Research Interns and researchers, present findings, and contribute to the vibrant life of the community
  • Summer Research Interns in the Audio and Acoustics Research Group work on well-defined projects that encourage open exploration and collaboration, guided by dedicated mentors
  • The Research Internship concludes with a final presentation open to all Microsoft employees and, ideally, results in a peer-reviewed scientific publication

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related STEM field
  • At least one year of experience in signal processing of audio, video, multimedia, or other types of signals
  • Research Interns are expected to be physically located in their manager’s Microsoft worksite location for the duration of their internship
  • Submit a minimum of two reference letters for this position as well as a cover letter and any relevant work or research samples

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI and machine learning for signal processing of audio and related sensor data
  • Experience applying algorithms in practical systems
  • Hands-on design and system implementation skills, including real-time data processing
  • Coding skills preferred in MATLAB, Python, or C/C++
