Job Description:

The Research Integrity Specialist will work proactively to manage publication ethics cases (pre- and post-publication), implement best-practice guidelines, and educate internal and external stakeholders on matters of publication ethics. You will play a key role in safeguarding the integrity and reputation of CSIRO Publishing journals.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assessing integrity alerts and investigating potential issues in line with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance and other relevant guidelines
  • Liaising with authors, editors, and external stakeholders regarding publication and peer review misconduct
  • Reviewing cases of possible plagiarism or self-plagiarism and progressing to resolution
  • Reporting on research integrity cases and emerging trends
  • Supporting policy, process, and tool development to strengthen research integrity practices
  • Providing guidance, training, and resources to internal publishing teams and external contributors
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of evolving challenges in publication ethics and advising on solutions

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant STEM field
  • Awareness of research integrity challenges, trends, and best practices in STEM
  • Experience building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills across multiple projects
  • Demonstrated ability to be results-oriented and performance-driven
  • Flexibility to travel nationally and internationally as required
