Job Description:

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic researcher with experience in systematic reviews for our Counter Marketing Project. Counter marketing seeks to denormalise unhealthy commodity industries by exposing their motives and portraying their marketing and associated activities as outside the boundaries of legitimate corporate behaviour. This study will synthesise the evidence base regarding the effectiveness of counter marketing.

Job Responsibility:

  • Synthesise the evidence base regarding the effectiveness of counter marketing
  • Contribute to written outputs, preferably peer-reviewed, consistent with disciplinary expectations for quality and volume

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic
  • Relevant experience in relevant field(s) such as public health
  • Strong track record in producing rigorous evidence syntheses
  • Experience in methods of evidence synthesis with a focus on complex public health topics
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a research team
  • Proven capacity to meet research deadlines

Nice to have:

  • Experience conducting research, ideally systematic reviews, on the Commercial Determinants of Health and/or health inequalities/social determinants of health
  • Understanding of commercial influences and biases and how these affect research and research methods
