Austin Health is strengthening its research governance system to create predictable, transparent and audit-ready processes that support safe, ethical and high-impact research. As part of this uplift, we are seeking a highly organised and reliable Research Ethics Operations Officer to ensure smooth, accurate and compliant operation of the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and the broader ethics and governance service. The Research Ethics Operations Officer plays a critical role in maintaining the institutional foundations of research ethics and governance at Austin Health. This position ensures HREC meetings run to a high standard, governance records are complete and compliant, and operational processes support clarity, defensibility and institutional accountability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare accurate, timely and error-free HREC agendas, papers and minutes
  • Maintain complete, compliant and audit-ready governance documentation
  • Coordinate HREC member onboarding, renewals and training requirements
  • Provide frontline enquiry triage
  • Manage committee workflows and documentation to support decision-making
  • Ensure documentation and processes meet legislative, regulatory and institutional requirements
  • Support continuous improvement of templates, workflows and digital systems
