Job Description:

The role is part of the MINDnet doctoral network dedicated to training researchers in neuromorphic computing, with the opportunity to pursue a PhD degree. In collaboration with an international team, this position involves hardware-software co-design of emerging non von-Neumann computing devices.

Job Responsibility:

  • Pursue a PhD degree in hardware-software co-design of analog neuromorphic accelerators
  • collaborate with an international multi-disciplinary team of machine learning experts, experimentalists, fabrication experts, software developers, and computer scientists.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • deeply interested and enthusiastic to perform research in optical and neuromorphic computing
  • excellent academic record
  • team player, self-motivated and independent worker
  • strong English writing and verbal communication skills
  • researchers are not eligible if they already have a PhD or have successfully defended their doctoral thesis
  • candidates cannot have resided or carried out their main activity in Belgium for more than 12 months within three years prior to employment start date.

Nice to have:

  • Proficiency in Python
  • expertise in frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow
  • broad knowledge of modern machine learning techniques
  • excellent analytical, numerical, and modeling skills
  • familiarity with optical, analog electronic in-memory, and neuromorphic computing
