Job Description:

We are currently seeking highly qualified, self-motivated interns to accelerate research towards new applications, core methodologies and technologies in computing systems architecture with a focus on technologies for sustainability at Hewlett Packard Labs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Investigate, research, and develop software that enables large-scale distributed systems, storage systems, and analytics, focusing on open-source packages and frameworks
  • Create software artifacts that contribute to proof-of-concept demonstrators, programming frameworks, data processing engines, scalable data services, data management systems including optimization and performance evaluation
  • Provide thought leadership and technical influence internally and externally to HPE
  • Contribute from initial novel ideas to design, development, implementation, evaluation, and technology transfer
  • Collaborate with Hewlett Packard Labs research teams and external partners
  • Align research with HPE's broader innovation initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing BS/MS/PhD degree (or other degree with significant research and innovation experience) in a relevant discipline (e.g. computer science, electrical engineering, math, physics, statistics, mechanical engineering, etc.)
  • Experience with innovative solution development, such as developing proofs-of-concept, first-of-a-kind solutions, and/or technology transfer
  • Demonstrated ability to generate, frame, and carry out leadership research via papers published in top-tier conferences or journals
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated software systems building and simulation skills
  • Strong systems programming and software engineering skills including C and C++
  • Knowledge of programming frameworks and libraries such as HPC Mercury, ZeroMQ, CUDA, Libfabric, Python, Pytorch, Simplivity and Kubernetes
  • Deep understanding of the relevant environment, ecosystem, trends, and literature
  • Ability to develop rapid understanding of select problems and opportunities
  • Ability to innovate, make research contributions, and bring ideas to reality in compelling ways.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of programming frameworks and libraries such as HPC Mercury, ZeroMQ, CUDA, Libfabric, Python, Pytorch, Simplivity and Kubernetes
  • GPU programming.
