Job Description:

We are currently seeking highly qualified, self-motivated interns to accelerate research towards new applications, core methodologies and technologies in computing systems architecture with a focus on technologies for sustainability at Hewlett Packard Labs.

Job Responsibility:

Investigate, research, and develop software that enables large-scale distributed systems, storage systems, and analytics, focusing on open-source packages and frameworks
Create software artifacts that contribute to proof-of-concept demonstrators, programming frameworks, data processing engines, scalable data services, data management systems including optimization and performance evaluation
Provide thought leadership and technical influence internally and externally to HPE
Contribute from initial novel ideas to design, development, implementation, evaluation, and technology transfer
Collaborate with Hewlett Packard Labs research teams and external partners
Align research with HPE's broader innovation initiatives.

Requirements:

Pursuing BS/MS/PhD degree (or other degree with significant research and innovation experience) in a relevant discipline (e.g. computer science, electrical engineering, math, physics, statistics, mechanical engineering, etc.)
Experience with innovative solution development, such as developing proofs-of-concept, first-of-a-kind solutions, and/or technology transfer
Demonstrated ability to generate, frame, and carry out leadership research via papers published in top-tier conferences or journals
Ability to work independently and in teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated software systems building and simulation skills
Strong systems programming and software engineering skills including C and C++
Knowledge of programming frameworks and libraries such as HPC Mercury, ZeroMQ, CUDA, Libfabric, Python, Pytorch, Simplivity and Kubernetes
Deep understanding of the relevant environment, ecosystem, trends, and literature
Ability to develop rapid understanding of select problems and opportunities
Ability to innovate, make research contributions, and bring ideas to reality in compelling ways.

Nice to have:

Knowledge of programming frameworks and libraries such as HPC Mercury, ZeroMQ, CUDA, Libfabric, Python, Pytorch, Simplivity and Kubernetes
GPU programming.
