The German Sport University Cologne, as a university of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, is unique in Germany in terms of both the breadth of its research activities and its approximately 6,000 students. Internationally, it is also one of the most renowned universities in the field of sport science. At the Institute for Sport Economics and Sport Management a position as Research Associate (f/m/d) is to be filled as of the earliest possible date, part-time with a regular weekly working time of currently 19 hours and 55 minutes. This is a qualification position under the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG), which serves to support the completion of a doctoral degree. The position is limited to the duration of the doctoral process, initially for a maximum period of 3 years.
Job Responsibility
Coordinating the English-taught M.Sc. in Sport Management
Communicating internally and university-wide with students, lecturers, administrative departments, and university management
Contributing to the planning, development, and evaluation of the course offerings within the M.Sc. in Sport Management
Strengthening the external profile of the M.Sc. in Sport Management with cooperation partners (e.g., potential employers) and other universities domestically and abroad
Delivering English-language courses in the field of sport management
Supervising final theses (Bachelor’s and Master’s theses) and marking examinations
Contributing to the self-governance of the Institute
Requirements
Completed academic degree (university diploma or Master’s) in sports science (preferably sport management or sport economics) or in business/administration/economics
Sound knowledge of the M.Sc. in Sport Management programme
Initial research experience in the field of sport management and an interest in research-led teaching
Excellent written and spoken English
Very good knowledge of research methods and quantitative data analysis
