The Systems Architecture Lab is seeking interns to accelerate research in computing systems architecture, focused on technologies for sustainability. The role involves contributing to fundamental research and development, design, and implementation of innovative solutions within HPE's research teams.
Job Responsibility:
Provide thought leadership and technical influence both internally and externally to HPE
Contribute along the full range from initial novel ideas to design, development, implementation, evaluation, and technology transfer
Collaborate with HPE Labs research teams as well as with external partners
Work in alignment with HPE's broader innovation community.
Requirements:
Pursuing PhD degree (or other degree with significant research and innovation experience) in a relevant discipline (e.g. computer science, electrical engineering, math, physics, statistics, mechanical engineering, etc.)
Track record of world-class innovative contributions and ideas
Experience with innovative solution development, such as developing proofs-of-concept, first-of-a-kind solutions, and/or technology transfer
Demonstrated ability to generate, frame, and carry out leadership research (for example, via papers published in top-tier conferences or journals) is required
Strong track record to work independently and in teams
Technical skills include ability to develop rapid understanding of select problems and opportunities, deep understanding of the relevant environment, ecosystem, trends, and literature, excellent research and development skills, ability to innovate, make research contributions, and bring ideas to reality in compelling ways, excellent written and verbal communication skills (English mastery), strong systems programming and software engineering skills, working knowledge of compiler technologies and machine learning, and basic knowledge of computer architecture and server hardware.
Nice to have:
Experience with formal verification of software including practical tools and methods
Experience with security controls in the context of large distributed systems
Familiarity with designing, implementing, and managing cloud architecture
Knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, including integration with on-premises infrastructure
Knowledge of implementing green data center practices
Familiarity with workload scheduling, resource allocation, and optimization in distributed computing environments
Experience programming in C, C++, Python, Go
Knowledge of programming frameworks and libraries such as HPC Mercury, ZeroMQ, CUDA, OpenCL, Libfabric, Pytorch, Simplivity, Kubernetes, and GPU programming
Experience with at least one cloud orchestration and management tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Slurm, Apache Mesos
Experience with serverless platforms like Knative, OpenFaas
Preferred knowledge of Data Analytics and Applied Mathematics
Experience with different accelerators (e.g: GPU, FPGA, ASICs)
Experience with Linux kernel
Experience programming FPGAs in HLS or System Verilog
Experience with basic data science tools in Python or R.
