Proclinical is seeking a dedicated Research Associate to join our client's experienced In Vivo Technical Support Team. In this role, you will be responsible for organizing, conducting, and reporting non-GLP rodent toxicology, investigative, and pharmacokinetics-toxicokinetic (PK-TK) studies that support drug discovery and development. This position requires hands-on work with rodents and is based onsite in Cambridge, MA.

Job Responsibility:

  • Coordinate pre-study activities, including protocol development, test article procurement, and animal ordering
  • Perform dose calculations and prepare dosing solutions
  • Conduct study procedures such as dosing, monitoring clinical signs, recording body weights, collecting blood samples, performing necropsies, and tissue collections on mice and rats
  • Utilize Excel spreadsheets or electronic data capture systems to collect and manage study data
  • Perform quality control checks on study data
  • Draft initial study reports and collaborate with Principal Investigators to finalize them
  • Create graphs of key study parameters using Excel or GraphPad Prism
  • Communicate effectively in group meetings and research discussions, while managing conflicts professionally
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager

Requirements:

  • Background in biology or a related field, with hands-on experience in laboratory rodent research
  • Proficiency in dose administration techniques for rats and mice (e.g., SC, IV, PO, IT, IM)
  • Skilled in blood collection methods (e.g., tail vein, submandibular, terminal collection)
  • Ability to identify and document abnormal behavior and clinical signs in rodents
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculating dilutions and dose projections
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GraphPad Prism
  • experience with electronic data capture systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of rat and mouse anatomy for necropsies and tissue collections
  • Familiarity with applicable Animal Welfare Guidelines
  • Certification as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) or Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) is advantageous
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills within and across teams
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, move heavy objects, and stand for prolonged periods while performing repetitive tasks
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a sense of personal accountability
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning

Nice to have:

  • experience with electronic data capture systems is a plus
  • Certification as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) or Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) is advantageous
