Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant clinical research team. The Research Assistant role will primarily provide support in coordinating and conducting two large externally funded research projects. The research projects are funded by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF). The first project aims to determine if home-based models for adjusting non-invasive ventilation (NIV) therapy are non-inferior to a hospital admission-based model for improving NIV usage. The second project aims to compare two different types of usual care for the use of NIV in people with motor neurone disease.

Job Responsibility:

  • Participant recruitment and progress monitoring.
  • Study equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Data collection, entry and management.
  • Participation in study meetings and liaison with project and departmental staff.
  • Communication with members of the research and clinical team, participants and other key stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Science or similar, ideally with recent experience working as a Research Assistant or Trial Coordinator.
  • Have high-level organisational, time, and project management skills.
  • Well-developed analytical and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a cooperative team.
  • High level of proficiency in the use of standard application software such as the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), with adherence to ICH-GCP and WHO guidelines for scientific research.
  • Current Australian driver’s licence.
