The Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine is seeking a per diem Research Assistant to work with faculty researcher, Shivani Gaiha, PhD on her ongoing research focused on adolescent and young adult tobacco and nicotine use. The successful candidate will engage in qualitative research activities, including codebook development and the analysis of pre-transcribed focus group data. These activities will be followed by writing/review and editing a manuscript on the development of an intervention as part of the Countering E-cigarette Marketing in the Retail Environment among Adolescents and Young Adults Study (PI: Gaiha). Additional support for other study activities may also be required.
Job Responsibility:
Perform a variety of routine laboratory experiments and procedures
Assist in troubleshooting procedures
Maintain records of results and methodologies
Maintain equipment, lab area and supplies
Sterilize and clean glassware, prepare media and other materials
Inventories supplies alerts supervisor to needed supplies
Processes order for supplies and/or animals
Attends courses in safety procedures
Carries out all laboratory activities in compliance with applicable regulations and protocols
Conducts literature searches and reviews
Attends courses, lectures and conferences
Contributes to the team within and between departments and organizations
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM is required
No experience is required for the role
