Position Summary/ Department Summary: We currently have one position open to study a wide range of research topics including cell-based treatment of diabetes/obesity and intestinal stem cell differentiation. We are seeking highly motivated, curious, and enthusiastic individuals with excellent problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include quantitative PCR, Western blot analysis, immunofluorescence staining, and flow cytometry as well as cell culture. Basic laboratory skills are required and experience in a previous lab is a plus. Working occasional weekends may be warranted. Specific Area of Research: Intestinal stem cells, intestinal hormones, organoid culture
Job Responsibility:
Isolate intestinal crypts from patient biopsies when needed for new organoid lines
Perform general cell culture work, including human intestinal organoids, mouse intestinal organoids, and human intestinal cell lines
Perform general laboratory experiments (initially supervised): RNA isolation, PCR, quantitative PCR, western blots, immunofluorescence staining, and flow cytometry
Use web-based design tools to create novel CRISPR and over-expression lentiviral plasmids
Analyze and interpreting experimental results to help determine the need for repeat studies
Organize data into graphs for presentation which will be shown and discussed at weekly lab meetings
Maintain an organized and thorough lab notebook that records protocols, results, and analysis
Perform literature searches to help with the designing of new experiments
Contribute to the writing and editing of new manuscripts
Support general lab operations
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in STEM is required
One year of work experience is required
Previous experience in a basic science laboratory
Have a background using basic mathematical and scientific principles to solve problems
Have a background in using effective oral and written communication skills in a team setting
Nice to have:
master’s degree a plus but not required
experience in a previous lab is a plus
