Position Summary/ Department Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and well-organized individual for a full-time research assistant position in the D’Gama Lab at Boston Children’s Hospital Division of Newborn Medicine. The lab is devoted to advancing equitable precision medicine for infants and children with neurological and genetic conditions, particularly focusing on infants with epilepsy and related neurogenetic disorders. Under the immediate supervision of a pediatric physician-scientist, the individual will engage in translational research at the intersection of newborn medicine, developmental neuroscience, and genetics and genomics. Training in all research procedures will be provided. The D’Gama Lab fosters a welcoming and collaborative environment with rigorous training, opportunities for co-authorship, and valuable experience for careers in medicine and science.
Job Responsibility:
Prepares biological specimens, conducts a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experiments, and analyzes generated data
Coordinates daily operations of clinical research studies under supervision
Screens, selects, recruits, and consents patients for studies while maintaining detailed records
Prepares and submits IRB/CCI documentation with support from the research team
Conducts data collection and prepares analytical reports on study results
Embodies hospital core values in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or psychology (required)
Experience utilizing analytical, communication and advanced writing skills
Understanding of basic genetics concepts (through coursework or prior work experience)
Experience in laboratory settings or clinical research (preferred but not essential)
