Position Summary The Fleming laboratory in the Pathology Department is searching for a new motivated team member. The laboratory studies iron metabolism and heme metabolism in normal and pathological rare genetic conditions. The position is open to support ongoing research on new therapeutic approaches to treat heme disorders. Key Responsibilities Under immediate supervision, the RA will be trained and perform a variety of laboratory experiments. Importantly, this position requires the new hire to assist in maintaining, generating, and phenotyping genetically modified mouse models for ongoing research projects. In addition to the bench-based research, responsibilities will also include some aspects of laboratory management and organization. Training will be available in all aspects of experimental research. Expectations for this position: 20% laboratory organization and 80 % lab experiments. Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in a science-related field
A general knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and equipment is expected
Previous experience in an academic laboratory setting, such as a summer internship, will be an advantage, but is not required
The ideal candidate has a curious mindset, is detail-oriented, is thorough in completing work tasks, and uses logic to solve work-related problems. Good written and verbal communications skills, as well as a team-player spirit, will be favored
