Job Description

The Division of Nephrology investigators are involved in basic, clinical, and translational research related to kidney disease. Under the direct supervision of the Department, this Research Administrator performs pre- and/or post-award functions. This position will coordinate required institutional reviews and approvals and/or monitors and administers federal and/or state, corporate, and private foundation-sponsored funds, subcontracts, and projects supported by discretionary and endowment funds. This position may prepare effort reports and financial transactions, and other reports according to established policies and procedures for approval by Department/Division/Program or Research Manager. May have signature authority on restricted funds.

Job Responsibility

  • Assists in pre-award functions such as preparing grant applications to ensure conformity with relevant sponsor guidelines, regulations, and hospital policy
  • Coordinates collection of grant application materials and receipt of institutional reviews and approvals to ensure timely submission
  • May assist in budget preparation as needed
  • Prepares financial transactions, such as employee travel and other reimbursements, and approves purchase requisitions in accordance with sponsor and hospital policy
  • Works with appropriate institutional central offices (Research Administration, Research Finance, Accounts Payable, etc.) to troubleshoot and resolve matters
  • Assists in the review of financial reports to monitor grant expenses to ensure compliance with sponsored award terms/conditions
  • Assists in preparing effort and financial reports for Principal Investigators to assist them in monitoring spending rates and planning for future spending needs
  • Participates in timely grant/award renewal process and the orderly closeout of sponsored activities
  • Attends institutional training to keep skills current and knowledge up-to-date on sponsor regulations, Hospital policies, and emerging technologies

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • 2 years of research administrative or financial experience preferred
