Job Description

FundFire, part of the Financial Times, is recruiting a talented, motivated journalist to take on our endowments, foundations and investment consultants beat. This is an opportunity to join an established and respected publication at a stable and profitable firm, and help us expand the depth of our coverage for the audiences we serve.

Job Responsibility

  • Report and write at least three stories per week for our daily newsletter
  • Develop a network of sources to generate scoops and story ideas
  • Contribute to all storytelling formats, including videos, features, webcasts, and where appropriate, graphics and other visualizations
  • Attend industry events and meet with sources to stay on top of the latest industry trends (including virtual events)
  • Follow the money and report on how large and influential institutional investors are putting their assets to work
  • Cover how university endowments are navigating a fraught environment
  • Write about trends around how charitable foundations are investing their pools of assets
  • Write about how institutional consultants are shaping the investment decisions of the biggest institutional investors

Requirements

  • Experience covering a newsroom beat, preferably on a daily deadline
  • Strong ability to generate and pitch ideas
  • Demonstrated ability to develop sources
  • A track record of working successfully as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce well-written, accurate content
  • Strong journalistic ethics and knowledge of newswriting fundamentals
