Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Repairs Manager to lead a high-performing reactive repairs service within a social housing environment. This is a key leadership role focused on delivering safe, compliant, and customer-focused maintenance services while driving continuous improvement. As Repairs Manager, you'll take ownership of the reactive repairs and maintenance service, leading a team and working collaboratively across the organisation to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality outcomes for residents. You'll be a key decision-maker, influencing operational and strategic direction, while ensuring performance, safety, and customer satisfaction remain at the heart of everything you do.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage the reactive repairs service, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery
  • Line manage and develop the team to achieve performance targets and KPIs
  • Oversee contractor performance, budgets, and compliance
  • Monitor service performance (e.g. response times, first-time fix, costs)
  • Provide technical expertise on building maintenance and compliance
  • Manage complex repairs issues, risk, and escalated complaints
  • Ensure accurate reporting, governance, and audit readiness

Requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a building-related discipline
  • Proven experience in housing/property repairs management
  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance, compliance, and legislation
  • Experience managing teams, budgets, and contractors
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong IT skills and experience with reporting systems
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle required
  • Travel across sites and occasional lone working
