Job Description

Join DeVry Greenhouses as Repair & Maintenance Assistant. Help keep greenhouses running, tackle repairs, work with a skilled team, and grow your career in a family-owned company. Our team is looking for a motivated and organized Repair and Maintenance Assistant to join our BC Operations team. These technicians play a crucial role in our company in ensuring that our locations are running smoothly and fixing problems as they rise. This role would include working with our maintenance team and greenhouse staff and reporting back to our Maintenance Manager.

Job Responsibility

  • Collaborate with the BC Maintenance team to ensure all buildings and structures are well-maintained
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential issues before they escalate
  • Support the team in identifying and fixing mechanical or electrical problems
  • Under supervision, replace faulty or worn out components to restore equipment functionality
  • Contribute to the upkeep of facilities by fixing damaged areas, including walls, floors, and fixtures, ensuring everything remains in good condition
  • Organize maintenance tools and manage the supply inventory, ensuring essential items are always in stock and ready for use
  • Keep workspaces clean and orderly while strictly adhering to safety protocols
  • Ensure all work complies with regulations, maintaining a safe environment
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, and other system issues, addressing malfunctions quickly to minimize downtime
  • Work with greenhouse staff and other departments to provide technical support as needed
  • Help coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Technician certifications are preferred, but not mandatory
  • Previous experience in maintenance, preferably in agricultural or horticultural settings
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
  • Familiarity with greenhouse operations and equipment
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks related to maintenance
  • Flexibility for extended hours during peak production seasons
