Our client is a leading UK infrastructure contractor seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Renewables Leader to drive the strategic development and delivery of its burgeoning renewable energy portfolio. This is a pivotal role requiring a seasoned professional to significantly grow the contractor’s presence and capability in the UK’s renewable energy sector, focusing on large-scale solar, onshore/offshore wind, battery storage, and emerging technologies. This is an opportunity to take the helm of a rapidly growing division within a well-established and respected UK contractor. The successful individual will have the autonomy and resource to shape the future of the company’s renewables offering, making a significant personal impact on the UK’s transition to net-zero.

Job Responsibility:

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive renewables business strategy to secure new contracts and expand market share within the UK
  • Leading, mentoring, and expanding the existing renewables team, fostering a culture of innovation, safety, and operational excellence
  • Providing strategic direction and oversight across the full lifecycle of complex renewable energy projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
  • Building and maintaining robust relationships with key clients, developers, supply chain partners, and regulatory bodies
  • Managing the P&L for the renewables division, driving profitability, and ensuring prudent financial management
  • Ensuring all operations adhere to relevant UK regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental policies

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in a senior leadership role within the UK renewable energy or infrastructure sector
  • Proven track record of winning and successfully delivering major renewable energy projects (e.g., wind farms, large-scale solar arrays)
  • Exceptional commercial acumen and experience managing a multi-million-pound business unit or portfolio
  • A degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • a relevant professional qualification is highly desirable
  • Deep understanding of the UK planning, regulatory, and consenting framework for renewable projects
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, capable of engaging effectively with C-suite level stakeholders
