We are actively engaged with our State Government client in VIC and URGENTLY looking for a Remuneration & Benefits Lead to commence an initial contract for 3 months with possible extension. The Remuneration & Benefits Lead is a transformation-focused subject matter expert responsible for ensuring internal equity, employee engagement, and external competitiveness across the department. As a critical driver of the "Future Ready" agenda, this role manages the governance and standards of the Public Entity Executive Remuneration (PEER) framework and enterprise-wide reward strategies. This position works as a peer to the Payroll, Capability, and Systems & Data Leads to establish foundational excellence and data integrity.

Job Responsibility:

  • Strategic Remuneration Management: Develop and manage comprehensive reward strategies that align with business goals and standards
  • Executive Remuneration Governance: Manage the PEER framework for the executive cohort, including framework communication, legacy realignment, and educating the Executive group on public sector settings
  • Annual Review Leadership: Manage the Enterprise Agreement annual remuneration review process, including the preparation of high-quality papers for the Board and Remuneration Committee
  • Job Evaluation & Bench-marking: Manage job evaluation frameworks using Mercer methodologies and provide deep remuneration insights through consistent bench-marking and salary surveys
  • Remuneration Advisory: Act as a trusted technical advisor to the P&C Leadership Team and Senior Leaders, providing expert advice on complex remuneration issues and market practices
  • Process Integrity: Partner with HR Business Partners and the Payroll Lead to ensure position description integrity and consistent application of classification review processes
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyse complex remuneration and benefits data to produce actionable insights and meet annual Government reporting obligations
  • Other Duties As Required: In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities

Requirements:

  • Strategic Remuneration and Reward: Extensive experience in designing and managing Remuneration and Benefits frameworks that ensure transparency, competitiveness, and alignment with large-scale organisational strategy
  • Executive Framework Expertise: Proven knowledge and understanding of executive employment and remuneration practices, specifically the PEER framework applicable to Victorian Public Sector Entities
  • Job Evaluation Specialisation: Demonstrated experience working with PEER and Mercer Methodology to maintain internal equity and classification integrity
  • Complex Analytical Capability: Highly developed analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage significant database to inform robust decision-making
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Advisory: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, influence, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on complex remuneration matters
  • Functional Collaboration: A proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi disciplinary leadership team to drive a unified "Future Ready" service model
  • Mandatory: Tertiary level qualifications in Human Resources, Business Management, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience: Extensive experience in PEER and Mercer methodology and in a specialist remuneration and benefits leadership role within a complex corporate or government context
  • Technical Skills: Advanced technical proficiency in Excel and the ability to learn and optimise HRIS remuneration modules
