Job Description

A highly regarded, mid-sized law firm is seeking an experienced Remote Litigation Legal Assistant to support its dynamic litigation team on a contract basis. This firm is known for its sophisticated practice, collaborative environment, and long-standing client relationships within the public sector. Job Responsibility

  • Draft, format, and proofread legal correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, and discovery using established templates and document shells
  • Perform e-filings in California State Courts and occasional Federal Courts
  • Finalize pleadings, including preparation of tables of authorities and creation of electronically tabbed, bookmarked, and searchable PDF documents for filing and service
  • Ensure high-quality document control and accuracy across all deliverables
  • Convert and manage documents to PDF format, including organizing and attaching exhibits
  • Coordinate and schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, conference rooms, and court reporters
  • Proactively manage multiple attorney calendars, including scheduling and maintaining Outlook calendar events (note: no litigation calendaring responsibilities)
  • Assist with trial preparation as needed
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the litigation team on a case-by-case basis (not attorney-specific)

Requirements

  • 5+ years of litigation legal assistant experience
  • Strong knowledge of California court rules and e-filing procedures
  • Experience with document formatting, tables of authorities, and litigation support tools
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and PDF editing software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
