We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, forward-thinking R.E. Teacher for a long-term position at a welcoming and highly regarded secondary school based in St Ives. Job Responsibility

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-impact, engaging Religious Studies and Philosophy lessons that challenge and motivate pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE)
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, open discussion, and empathy regarding world religions, morals, and contemporary ethics
  • Regularly assess, track, and report on student progress, implementing effective interventions to ensure all learners achieve their full potential
  • Work closely with a supportive Humanities department to share resources, contribute to curriculum planning, and participate in departmental meetings
  • Undertake form tutor responsibilities and contribute positively to the wider life of the school community

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Religious Education / Religious Studies or Humanities
  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching R.E. across all secondary age groups and ability levels
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
  • Excellent classroom management skills with a positive, proactive approach to student engagement
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to undergo a new application)
