Job Description

We are looking for a Relief Pantry Assistant who is dedicated to making every moment count, regardless of their qualifications or experience. As a Pantry Assistant, you will need to be adaptable and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with our team are essential for maintaining the pantry, organising supplies, and ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly to meet the dietary needs of residents. Be part of our dedicated care team in our Weston View Care Home located in Keith, a town that marks the starting point of Scotland's Malt Whisky Trail and boasts many beautiful walks.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage the 'Cook Safe' system, ensuring adherence to food safety policies, including food probing, temperature monitoring, and hygiene measures
  • Preparing and serving breakfast, offering meal choices to residents, and cooking light meals
  • Liaise with cooks to accommodate residents' dietary needs, be aware of food allergies, and complete daily menus based on individual preferences
  • Clearing tables, washing dishes, preparing vegetables, setting up for meals, and maintaining a clean kitchen and dining area
  • Order and store food supplies, ensuring adequate stock while adhering to infection control and health and safety policies
  • Attendance at mandatory training is required

  • Ensure that clients promptly receive health screenings, public aid enrollment, ESL enrollment, social security application, WIC appointment (when needed), community resources, and help with phones & internet set-ups, and securing clothing/household items
  • Assist with lease signings and utility start-ups
  • Ensure clients have access to food assistance (gift cards and/or food pantries) when there is a delay in food stamps
  • Ensure clients know where the grocery stores are and provide an initial trip to the store when necessary
  • Request checks from the finance department and ensure clients receive funds in a timely manner to pay rent in the first 90 days and provide education/orientation to clients around paying housing and utility bills
