We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Relief Homeless Support Officer to join our team. This pivotal role involves providing practical support and guidance to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their accommodation. You will work closely with individuals to assess their needs, develop personalised support plans, and connect them with relevant health, social care, and housing services.
Job Responsibility:
Provide direct support and advice to individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity
Conduct thorough needs assessments and risk evaluations to identify appropriate interventions
Develop and implement personalised support plans in collaboration with service users and partner agencies
Work closely with local authorities, healthcare providers, and voluntary organisations to coordinate care and housing solutions
Assist service users in accessing benefits, health services, and training or employment opportunities
Maintain accurate and confidential case records in accordance with organisational policies
Respond sensitively and promptly to crisis situations, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of service users
Contribute to team meetings and service development initiatives to improve support delivery
Requirements:
Previous experience in homelessness support, social care, health, or a related public sector role is highly desirable
Understanding of issues affecting homeless and vulnerable people, including mental health, substance misuse, and domestic abuse
Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Competent in maintaining detailed records and managing caseloads efficiently
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Relevant qualifications in social care, health, or related disciplines are advantageous
Willingness to undertake training and professional development as required
