Job Description:

Relief General Assistant role covering various units in the Midlands. The company philosophy is to nourish the community with amazing produce, to employ local people and to train apprentices for future careers in the catering and hospitality sector.

Job Responsibility:

  • Help the Chefs and Front of House Manager bring delicious food to life through preparation and cooking
  • Serve up meals, snacks & drinks, and handle payments
  • Keep kitchen sparkling by cleaning all equipment, crockery & cutlery
  • Be the go-to support across all service areas—from Serveries and Retail to Hospitality, Functions, and Coffee Shops
  • Champion food safety by ensuring all food is handled in line with Food Safety & Quality Management System standards
  • Work safely and responsibly, keeping health & safety at the heart of everything you do
  • Embrace continuous learning through professional development and training opportunities
  • Keep stores organised and tidy by ensuring all raw materials and packaging are stored correctly

Requirements:

  • A full, valid UK driving licence with at least 12 months of driving experience and no more than 6 points
  • Brilliant customer service experience, ideally in a catering setting
  • Sharp problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet
  • Comfort with cash handling, EPOS systems, and cashless payments

Nice to have:

  • Level 2 Food Safety Qualification
  • Level 2 Health & Safety Qualification
  • Previous large-scale catering experience
  • Experience managing stock and cash

  • Planning, preparing and presenting meals to top restaurant quality
  • Ensuring the kitchen is run and equipment maintained to an outstanding level, providing the kind of service the residents expect and deserve
  • To control systems of food allocation to minimise wastage, working with the Head Chef to keep within allocated budgets
  • To deputise for the Head Chef when required and provide cover and support
  • To monitor stocks and purchases, thereby allocating the quantities of materials
  • To maintain a balanced diet and varied menus
  • To ensure that all kitchen staff clean the kitchen after use, including self and, at the end of each shift, leave the kitchen in a clean and hygienic state
  • Ensure that Food Hygiene and Health and Safety standards are met
  • Under the direction of the Chef to assist in kitchen tasks connected with the preparation, cooking, presentation and serving of meals and beverages
