As a Relief Chef, you will be responsible for orchestrating the preparation and delivery of a healthy, delicious and exciting menu for our students and staff, all with fresh ingredients. The role is more than just cooking; it’s about culinary leadership. You will be expected to drive the highest standards of food and service, using your initiative, creativity, and keen attention to detail to transform school mealtimes into genuinely interesting and special dining experiences. Please note: This role requires you to hold a full UK driving licence, to enable you to travel between schools
Job Responsibility:
Menu Mastery: Take ownership of our carefully selected recipes, bringing our nutritious menus to life with excellent taste, flawless presentation, and consistency
Compliance Command: Champion the highest standards of Food Hygiene, Allergen management, and Health and Safety compliance (HACCP) within the unit
Team Collaboration & Mentoring: Work collaboratively with the team to deliver a fun, friendly, and delicious dining experience
Hospitality Production: Skillfully manage the production of high-quality hospitality and special catering requests for clients
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and customers, serving as a trusted, knowledgeable representative of Miquill
Requirements:
Proven, hands-on craft-based experience using fresh, quality ingredients, preferably within an education or high-volume contract catering environment
Food Hygiene Level 2 & 3 (or be willing to achieve Level 3 quickly
further professional training will be available)
Excellent, practical working knowledge of Health and Safety practices and kitchen operational efficiency
Basic computer skills, with familiarity in using different operational systems (e.g., ordering, compliance logging)
Exceptional self-motivation, creativity, and initiative—you are ready to lead improvements and innovate the food offer
A full UK driving licence, to enable you to travel between schools
