To encourage and enable meaningful family involvement in Dimensions, we employ Associate Family Consultants. They help to translate and amplify the views and experiences of families in varying ways to ensure that decision making within Dimensions considers and respects what matters to families. The three roles are offered on a zero-hours basis. Routine and ad-hoc work will be offered to you, enabling you to work when it suits and a maintain a good work–life balance.
Job Responsibility:
Be a listening ear for families, signposting them to information or colleagues as needed
Contribute to our ways of checking the quality of people’s support and homes – either sharing your own perspective or gathering the views of families
Participate in interviews for new colleagues, bringing a family/carer viewpoint
Represent families’ perspectives at meetings and events
Requirements:
Personal experience as a family member to a person with a learning disability or Autism
Be able to promote the needs and aspirations of families while recognising the rights and autonomy of people with learning disabilities and Autism
Be confident in the use of basic Microsoft software - Outlook email, Word and PowerPoint
Be able to work sensitively in situations where people may feel emotional
Understand person-centered thinking and how people can work together to design and improve support
