Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Reliability Test Engineer to join a team focused on building the next generation of optical interconnect systems. In this role, you will plan and execute environmental and reliability tests on optical systems, components, and subsystems to ensure hardware meets qualification and lifetime requirements. You will work with design, reliability, manufacturing, and quality teams to conduct testing, analyze results, and drive design improvements.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and work with lab teams to execute environmental and reliability tests such as thermal cycling, HALT/HASS, vibration, and life testing on opto-mechanical assemblies and components
  • Operate environmental test equipment, including thermal chambers, vibration systems, and HALT/HASS platforms
  • Perform statistical reliability analysis, including Weibull, acceleration modeling, and degradation analysis, to characterize failure distributions and support lifetime predictions
  • Investigate test and screening failures across optical, mechanical, and electrical domains to identify failure modes, mechanisms, and root causes
  • Support failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis (RCA) activities
  • Support the implementation of Design for Reliability (DfR) principles by providing test data and reliability risk assessments
  • Document test procedures, results, and failure analysis reports with clear, actionable conclusions
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to define and refine reliability screening and acceptance criteria
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of test processes, fixturing, and data collection methods
  • Communicate test findings and recommendations to engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, physics, or a similar field
  • Experience with analytical methodologies associated with materials/failure analysis and experience conducting statistical data analysis
  • Hands-on experience with environmental test equipment such as thermal chambers, HALT/HASS systems, or vibration tables

Nice to have

  • Experience with PCBA-level testing, inspection, and failure analysis
  • Proficiency with reliability analysis methods and tools (e.g., Weibull analysis, Weibull++, ReliaSoft, Minitab, JMP)
  • Familiarity with reliability and qualification standards (e.g., Telcordia GR-468, MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-217, JEDEC)
  • Experience with data analysis or test automation scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW)
  • Experience with optics, opto-electronics, or optical communication systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
