Job Description:

Descartes Underwriting is seeking a Reinsurance Program Officer to join our Reinsurance Team. You will report to the Head of Reinsurance and you will be a key contributor to the management & extension of our reinsurance programs. The applicant will be in close and effective cooperation with all business units.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute to building Descartes Insurance’ reinsurance strategy together with underwriting, finance and risk management functions
  • Coordinate Descartes Insurance placements by collecting input from different teams to prepare placement, managing placement timeline and ensuring adherence to processes – collect signatures, document placement
  • Support the reinsurance placements of Descartes Underwriting partners both with traditional reinsurers and ILS actors
  • Report back to underwriting teams and management on reinsurance activities
  • Feed into Underwriting & Operations process with support of Tech teams
  • Prepare presentation for reinsurers/brokers interactions
  • Point of contact for reinsurance related questions internally

Requirements:

  • Graduated from a Business, Actuarial or Engineering school
  • From 4 to 7 years of experience (internships and apprentice included) in P&C reinsurance, corporate clients insurance underwriting or consulting active with P&C (re-)insurance clients
  • General understanding of insurance concepts is valued (Accounting, Legal, Underwriting, Pricing models)
  • Rigorous, team spirit, creative and meticulous mind
  • Proficiency in French & English is required (verbal and written)
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal)
  • Coordinate activities across teams
  • Analytical and financial skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to network and build relationships
