We are seeking a dedicated Labourers and Rehabilitation Technician to join the environmental team at an NT Mine. This role is crucial for maintaining the ecological integrity of the site through focused environmental works, including extensive weed and pest management, as part of the mine's overall rehabilitation strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing field tasks, operating light vehicles and plant, and working autonomously under direction in remote outdoor environments.
Job Responsibility:
Carry out weed and pest management activities in line with site management plans
Undertake general environmental and rehabilitation works, including planting, seeding, mulching, and erosion control
Prepare seeds for germination, pot on seedlings, prepare soil mixtures relevant to species, and manage stock levels to ensure seedlings are ready for revegetation activities
Operate light vehicles, plant, and equipment on-site and off-road in remote areas
Install and maintain fencing to secure approximately 4,000 hectares of land
Perform task preparation and complete records accurately
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a labouring or outdoor environmental setting
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously under direction
Proven experience in weed and pest management
Current Australian manual driver's license
Ability to work for extended periods in Darwin heat
Able to use hand tools
Basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow procedures and complete records
