We have an exciting opportunity to join the Regional Environmental Control Service (RECS) for a suitably experienced Rehabilitation Technician Assistant. Our service provides specialist assessment and equipment loan provision of electronic assistive technology to support and promote independence. The service is the regional hub for the North East and Cumbria. The service works with both adults and children experiencing a range of complex physical difficulties that prevent them being able to control multiple aspects of their home environment, e.g. neurological conditions (such as motor neuron disease, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury, etc.), complex arthritis and spinal injuries. These clients may have associated cognitive, behavioural or learning difficulties.
Job Responsibility:
Support the clinical team in delivering electronic assistive technology (EAT) solutions to clients with complex physical difficulties and/or learning difficulties, life limiting diagnoses and challenging behaviours
Review involving clients/carer and the bespoke solutions provided following clinical assessment
Manage their own workload
Configure and complete solo visits to install electronic assistive technology solutions, repair existing equipment, mount devices to wheelchairs and perform annual maintenance including satisfactory electrical PAT testing
Deliver / collect equipment as needed
Work with other colleagues in developing new devices and / or solutions
Provide technical expertise and support
Meet the travel requirements needed to offer a service for the North East and North Cumbria area
Requirements:
Good standard of education to GCSE level, including Maths and English
Foundation degree or NVQ Level 4 (in related area e.g. Electronics, Engineering, Electrical Installation, etc), or NVQ Level 3 (in relevant area) with additional training in the speciality field or equivalent evidence of underpinning knowledge
Relevant experience in a technical service offering support to clients with equipment
Good communication skills
Good general IT skills and comfortable performing basic tasks in Windows, iOS and android
Able to use hand and power tools to complete general equipment maintenance
Interest in the provision of electronic assistive technology
Interest in development of their skills and knowledge to help develop the role and contribute to service improvement
Nice to have:
City and Guilds 2377 PAT testing Qualification or equivalent
Level 4 qualification in relevant subject (e.g. Electronics, Engineering, Electrical Installation, etc.) or relevant experience
Experience within an EAT setting
Relevant experience of delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance
Relevant experience of testing in a clinical environment
